OUR COUNTRY SERVICE. (1897, November 27). Bendigo Advertiser (Vic. : 1855 - 1918), p. 5. Retrieved February 5, 2013, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article89463490
ELMORE, Friday.
Marriage. - A wedding took place at the Roman Catholic Church, Rochester, on Wednesday, the contracting parties being Miss Nanno Hanley, of Rochester, and Mr. Jas. Smith, of Elmore. The Rev. T. Mulqueen officiated. The bride was handsomely dressed in blue shot lustre, trimmed with silk, shot straw hat. Miss Lizzie Hanley, the bridesmaid, looked nice the white spot muslin. Mr. Thomas Fitzgerald was the best man.
I mentioned James Smith in my previous post today, so I thought I would feature this marriage notice as a Trove Tuesday post.

Trove Tuesday is a blogging prompt created by Amy from the Branches Leaves and Pollen blog.

  1. What on earth is a 'shot straw hat' :)

    1. Not sure, I get a bit confused by all the descriptions of the old fashions - something I'll have to find out more about :)
